Good crass humor...

Hmm,

The comedy here was pretty funny, I guess my main problem was the animation,
& while some may feel the drawings themselves weren't that great I think they suited the overall tone of the piece.

The voice acting and audio quality were pretty solid too.
I also think it's cool you added easter eggs (although it wasn't that great), since the main feature was somewhat short.

Thanks,

I'm not very proud that I took lots of short cuts with the animation, but hey, it is my first try at actually animating a good piece. Also I don't think the main feature was short, it was almost three minutes long :P

It was alright...

Hello,

I'll start off with the positive, the script was solid, the mouth animation was well done, and the art style while simple was unique.

Now the not so great aspect of the film, the hands seemed so wrong, and there wasn't too much animation per-se, aside from the basic tweens and such.

Not a bad holiday flash, and it's nice to see something a little darker around this time of year, still I felt it could have been handled better.

Sincerely,

I'm very aware that I'm absolutely awful at drawing hands, and I am trying to learn, I've even considered getting one of those wooden hand models, but... well I'm holding out hope that I can learn how to draw them without having to shell out money. Either way thanks for the review.

Psychopathic fun!!!

Hello,

The animation on this ranged from being good to, choppy.
Obviously the big draw to this piece was your use of colors, fun, and vibrant,
kind of reminds me of the "harlequin fetus" series (although no where near as dark).

There wasn't really much of a narrative, however it was still a pleasure to watch the film, I enjoyed it more as an experience than as a story oriented piece.
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for some of your other stuff!

Voodoo responds:

Psychopathic??? What?? haha

I definitely didn't have a story in mind for this, I just added new ideas as I was going.

Hurt by poor animation, and an unclear message...

I'm sure this was supposed to be a satire, I'm just not too sure what your message was.

The animation wasn't too great either, and instead of a loop you should have had a replay button at the end. The comedy was relying heavy on being random without any setup or context, this in turn made the film fail.

An Excellent Noir...

Man I loved this!

The execution was so professional,
The character was interesting, a thief who actually doesn't seem to care about
money as much as human life, he seems to have his own sense of ethics.

Which works well into the tradition of noir genre themes, namely moral ambiguity.

I see you've received criticism for "ripping off Frank M" I think that's bullshit,
Frank M didn't create noir, he learned from it, this has more in common with 1950's film than it does with his work.

I would have like some special features. Specifically being able to flip through the original comic, and a commentary on how, and why you deviated from the original character design so much.

Still this is a really cool film!
Well done!

Thank you for the more than kind words :)

Cool, but the "cheating", ended up hurting this...

Hello,

I really think that this is a great halloween film,
but various aspects of it hurt it's overall integrity.

I guess the thing I should mention first, is some of the animation looks really choppy, and since the monster was always in the shadows, it's hard to really capture what it looked like.

This may have been intentional to allow the audience to use their imagination so to speak, which is fair.

Unfortunately you also cheated on showing some of the kills, which were done off screen, or blurred, this was a bad decision I feel...

Since your already showing shitloads of blood spraying everywhere you might as well give the audience the "gory details".

I can only see one reason why a person wouldn't do this, and that reason hits every animator, LAZINESS.

The audio worked in your favor though, and the monster seemed cool enough,
although I still would have liked to have seen more of it.

Thanks,

Cool holiday short!

Hello,

I really liked this,
it reminded me of the work of John K, which I'm sure was the feel you were going for.

The animation was pretty good, the drawings were very well done although at times felt unpolished.

The music again had a pretty good selection, and fit the piece.
I guess my only problem with this film is the voice acting.
It wasn't bad, although at times it was very difficult to make out what the characters were saying.

I tend to go easier on sound issues when it comes to flash films, since the focus should be on the art/animation.

The only thing I'm wondering is why you chose godlimations as an affiliate?
Didn't the whole bit with Santas asscheeks seem a little gay to him?

Thanks,

Cool Concept

Hello,
The concept was pretty cool.

The menu design was very solid, it was on par with the way I design my menus!
Which is to say it had a bunch of features no one will ever use.

The extras you added were pretty cool.
A good selection of music, rounded out the piece.

Some of the animation was lacking, but overall it was a really well executed project.

It reminded me of another submission on the portal called "One Big Morphing Orgasm", but that may only be because there was a piece of music that was used in both submissions.

It obviously was pretty short, although very well done!

Emrox responds:

Thanks for the review, I appreciate it!

I actually found the song "sadja's soul" via that movie. It was too good a song... I couldn't resist using it!

interesting concept, very poor execution...

I think the concept of doing skits around learning how to animate is a good one.

That said the way you presented the idea didn't work, various of the skits weren't funny, and the animation ranged from god awful, to mediocre. Now while I understand that this may have been you're intention early on, even as the film progressed the animation didn't greatly improve.

The drawings fall victim to the same issues.
I do think it's a cool idea, but I also feel you should flesh out your script a bit more, and work on your animation skills.

I could see effort, and "heart" in this film, so you have those things going for you,
and if you work at it I think you can make something really salient, and awesome.

Solid but oh so short...

Hello,

I think you nailed the "bunny kill" art style,
and the way you animated the character to the music was again well done.

The movie was fun, and exciting while it lasted, the pans of the "camera" were well executed, and added a kinetic energy to the piece.

Sadly it was quite short, and although it was cool, I felt it was lacking something that would make it really special.
Well done though!

Thanks,
