Generic at best...

Essentially the game is another generic platformer.

The graphic design seemed really lazy, as if you created various shapes freehand using the pencil tool.

The level design was equally poor... The game was overly simple with little innovation as you went along, to be frank it was a cake walk.

Even with a basic knowledge of actionscript you could have added some elements that would have made the game more unique. Such as masks, and puzzle based levels.

The menu design was obscene, you should have used the text tool to write out the options. I think it's important to keep in mind that first impressions are extremely important.

The first thing someone playing a game sees is the menu, if it's shitty there is a great temptation to close the game and hit the dreaded "blam this piece of crap button"

The music was alright, but after reaching the end seemed to go into a double loop,
and there was one level where it stopped completely this again is an example of shoddy actionscripting.

I feel for your next attempt perhaps you should take more time in the graphic, and level design. And also check for collision problems as there were quite a few I found in this game.

You may also want to consider checking out the game PIXEL on the portal,
it was made using very basic actionscript/graphics but still managed to be challenging.

Hopefully it may serve as a source of inspiration...

It IS my first and I think it is better than other people's first games. Thanks fo the review though. :)

My eyes were raped!

Wow this game was awesome on so many levels,
Cool graphics, unique gameplay, absurd humor...

The first time I played this game I had a difficult time, due to laughing so hard that a shark was bringing down planes, and the sound effects of the people panicking.
By the way the menu screen was priceless.

It would have been nice to have some secrets, or multiple endings based
on one's score... But overall you've proved that sharks are definitely back in again,
although I might be biased...

Sincerely,
- Celx

Awesome!

Good but doesn't bring anything new...

Hello,

I've seen the concept of this kind of game before,
what you have created is a solid version of the genre.
I like how you added some dynamic sounds, for those of use wearing headphones.

The aesthetics could be improved, if you did that I would have probably given you a 7. Unfortunately it is kind of generic, I'm sure if you put your mind to it you could create something mindblowing!

So you're overall score is a 4/5, & a 6/10.
Thanks,
- Celx

Alright, thanks. It was kind of simple, but I wanted to implement some suggestions to improve older versions. But keeping basically the same gameplay. Which was just an avoid/collect mouse based game. I'm working on some other stuff which I hope will be better. Thanks for the review.

Pretty cool...

Hello,

That was an interesting premise for a game,
not too much to do though.

Still you did a fairly good job with the actionscript,
it kind of feels like a bastard version of the virtual horse races machines.

Good job on the drawings too, could do a bit better on the sound though.
Kudos on the interface, as well as making it bilingual.

Muchas gracias,

DoomedChi responds:

thanks, i got the idea from the virtual horse races machine on GTA SA. i know its kinda boring after the 3rd bet.
for the sounds i dont kno WTF is wrong but every wav mp3 or any audio file gets F#@&ed up when i import them.

Normally I hate this stuff...

However you really presented a unique way about presenting your artwork,
It was fluid, and unique... Instead of a generic slideshow.

That said it really just was still pictures, that were tweened, more of a fancy extra than an actual film.

But that was pretty cool, and was superior compared to other "portfolio's" I've seen.

So I gave you a 4/5 because I was feeling generous, any other time I would have given you a 3/5.

Very nice art though, were you self taught?

Sincerely,
- Celx

wynand responds:

Thanx for the review matey, wel yeah more or less self taught, the moment i started learning to draw was when i bought my first sketchbook, recomended to me by a book called gesture drawing for animation by walk stanchfield (not sure if it gor published or not but i manged to find a copy lol), walt was also the origin/inspirtation of the drawn to life series which just completly rocks =)

And yes i didn't want my sketchbook to looke the same as others and though id give some funky motion graphics a try =) why not eh

thanx again

My vices are also my virtues...
