Day of the triffids anyone?

Hello,

This reminds me of the novel "day of the triffids" by John W.
Were you inspired by said book?

Anyway the drawing itself is quite good, as I often state, inking the piece would make the lines come out better, and elevate the piece as a whole.

Furthermore I think using inks for colors would have been a good idea too.
Overall it's really cool!

Sincerely,
- Celx

Merol responds:

Wow, I never heard about that book before, but I searched something obout it, and I can see what are you talking about. Even with that, I think the design it's very different.
And yeah, inked, It would look much better, I'll try to use ink next time.

THANKS A LOT FOR YOU REVIEW!!!

A good salient poster.

Hello,

I really like your use of colors, the drawings are nice and surrealistic, a perfect way to grab attention for an art show.

My only problem with this is the knockout you used on some of the text made it a little hard to see, however I'm sure it looks better in person.

By the way did you find any salacious, kinky shit in his laptop?
Sincerely,
- Celx

Awesome I wish I could punch out whales too!

Very nice drawing, I hope you join the art portal soon!

I choose...

The guy with the screaming dog head...

Family portraits much?

It's disturbing... And that's coming from a guy who draws talking vagina's for money!

I would scout you but you haven't been here all that long, so I don't want to take the risk only to find out your art was stolen or something...

I am recommending you though!
Sincerely,
- Celx

desktoppirate responds:

i was scouted...now im not, have no idea why. don't understand this system yet ahh. also "good artists copy, great artists steal" unfortunately im neither :( haha. colour me very interested in these talking vaginas :P

Good cartoon version of the man...

Ben Stein had a guest role in one of my favorite, and most criminally neglected games of all time "toonstruck"...

That said the score I have just given you is based on your execution, not on my personal feelings towards the man.

Your depiction of the man is exaggerated, yet uncanny, perhaps a little too youthful looking though.

The lines show up well, but as I have told many others inking always makes them appear "sharper"...

Another issue I have with this piece is his suit isn't fully "colored", or shaded in this case, making it seem a little unfinished.

Had you colored, and inked this I would have given you a full ten,
still most excellent if I say so.

Sincerely,
- Celx

I did want to ink and color it, but the restrictions of the project was midnight, i think it was called, only midnight pencil
Thanks for the review

Oh my...

Reminds me of the poster for the film "street trash",
very cool and grimy.

Thanks,
- Celx

conundrummer responds:

Yeah, that poster has really stuck in my mind, it's pretty incredible. Thanks :)

Good self portrait...

Hello,

Although some of the characters seemed out of proportion, and just to be clear I mean out of proportion relative to your art style, plus the lack of color kind of hurt you too.

I feel even if you didn't want to use color you should have at least inked it, as it would have given your lines a more salient presentation.

Other than that I must commend you on all the activity you have going on,
it's really a good use of space on your "canvas".

Thanks!

I see where some characters were out of proportion, especially Arch Vile's DevilFace's hands and the vampire hunter's neck, jaw, and hair. I have to say that Yuka was kinda tricky to draw to me. Right now, I'm taking a figure drawing class. I'm sure this'll help me with proportions and perspective. As for coloring, at the time this was worked on, I figured colored pencils would be too bright for this picture. I couldn't really afford appropriate color utensils then. My family had a critical situation which ended tragically two months after this was completed. Until you mentioned inking the picture, I didn't really think about doing that. Oh well...
Thank you for your suggestions and compliments. I really do appreciate it. ^_^

Very Stylish...

Hello,

I like the drawing you did, and the granite you added was very well done.
Interestingly enough I must commend you on something most people (including myself) don't take the time to do properly, which is the magnificent background!

My only complaint is the zombie looks a little uneven, I mean the eyes would better suit a zombie who has gone through serious decomposition, where as your zombie seems a little to "fresh" to have them right now.

Still it's very solid work.
Thanks,

Not bad however...

Hello,

There are a couple of things that bother me about this piece.

It seems as though there are unfilled white spots on the canvas, & the black on the eyes seems too abrasive, perhaps you should have used a softer shade?

Aside from that it seems like a nicer surreal piece!
Thanks,
- Celx

InsertFunnyUserName responds:

I agree about the eyes. I tried to make eye lashes, but eh, didn't work out as well as I hoped. A lighter shade is a good idea.

And yeah, I'll make sure to watch out for white spots.

Thanks for the review

My vices are also my virtues...
